About Rainbow Gardens #1

Rainbow Gardens #1 (Thousand Oaks) sits on just over 6 acres of land. Our frontage on Thousand oaks is barely 3/4 of an acre wide and makes us look deceptively small. We have been on this site since 1987.
We provide our customers with annuals, perennials, grass plugs, herbs, vegetables, pond plants, trees, shrubs, native plants, roses, outdoor decor, gifts, garden supplies, soils, composts, mulches, thousands of plants and too much more to mention. We do our best to carry everything you need for the long South Central Texas growing season.
In the fall and winter months we also carry a great gift selection, mums, winter annuals, poinsettias, wreaths, garland, mistletoe, and live and cut Christmas trees.
Our location specializes in the use of Native and Xeriscape plants in the San Antonio landscape. We also have a extensive shade and ornamental tree selection, including natives and exotics that do well here. Most of our trees are in the 5 to 15 gallon size. Our customers have learned that if Rainbow Gardens does not carry it, it probably is not available in San Antonio! Another area of specialty at our location is the use of desert southwestern landscaping. For customers who find themselves living on shelf rock, this is a wonderful landscape option. Check out our beautiful southwest landscape planting at the entrance to our property.
Our wonderful Maria, who has been with Rainbow Gardens forever, has a passion for bonsai. She creates her own masterpieces and is a wealth of information about this facet of gardening.

Since our inception in 1976, Rainbow Gardens has had several goals in mind. The first goal was to provide the best quality plants we could find, and sell them at a reasonable price. Secondly, we wanted to provide the largest selection of plant material anywhere in South Central Texas. Most importantly, our goal is to provide our customer with the best customer service of any garden center in San Antonio. We at Rainbow Gardens realize that those goals are big and that they are by no means easy to achieve, but we promise you that we will work on these every single day.
