4 sprigs of
myrtle, germander, lambs ear, or artemesia
6 scented geranium leaves (I like the lemon or snowflake
variety.)
1 rose (or use any of your favorite scented flowers)
2 sprigs of rosemary and ivy
2-4 sprigs of mint (any variety)
To get started
with your bouquet, cut sprigs of herbs and flowers 6-7
inches in length. With your hand hold 2 of the myrtle
sprigs, place 3 of the scented geranium leaves on top of
the myrtle, and add one of the rosemary sprigs/ivy
sprigs and finally 2 of the mint sprigs.
Next center
the flower of your choice in the middle of your pile
and the remainder of the mint and rosemary/ivy sprigs,
then add the remaining scented geranium leaves and last,
the 2 myrtle sprigs. Bunch this into a circle with the
myrtle/germander as the outside circle.
This takes some
practice, but working with the all the scents makes it
well worth it. I hold the tussy mussy together with
florist tape wrapped around the outside stems of the
myrtle/germander to bind it all in place. Slip the tussy
mussy into a lace doily, handkerchief, or wrap the bound
stems with a ribbon bow.
Present this to
a friend and see if they can figure out the meanings to
the flowers.
Enjoy!
