Rainwater Harvesting
Do you want to learn how to harvest rainwater to support a beautiful, locally adapted, low-water-use landscape in your yard? Rainwater harvesting has many benefits: Rainwater is of superior quality: zero hardness, sodium free, and nearly neutral PH. Harvesting rainwater can reduce demand on traditional water supplies and can provide water in areas without access to a conventional water supply system. Plus, rainwater is free! Nearly half of residential water use goes to landscaping. By harvesting rainwater, you can create a beautiful landscape that requires little to no irrigation. Come join John Vann and Lou Kellogg, Bexar County Master Gardeners, as they teach us the ins and outs of Rainwater Harvesting. They will also show us how to build a rain barrel, that will be given away in a drawing at the end of class. Each class participant will receive $10 in bonus bucks that can be used in the month of August. Click the calendar below to sign up. Each person requires a ticket. Seating is limited.
