Gift Certificates can now be purchased online.
- Gift certificates can also be bought in store in person, or over the phone with a credit card.
- Gift certificates purchased over the phone will be mailed via standard post service, or held at the store if requested.
- Gift certificates can be purchased for any amount, are valid at both locations, and do not expire.
- Physical gift certificates must be presented for validation at time of purchase. We do not hold an electronic account of balances on gift certificates.

Rainbow Gardens Donation Policy
Purpose
At Rainbow Gardens, we believe in giving back to our community by supporting programs that align with our mission: to inspire, educate, and connect people with plants, gardening, and the environment. Our donation efforts are focused on fostering community education and environmental stewardship.
Donation Guidelines
To ensure donations are impactful and aligned with our values, the following guidelines apply:
Who We Donate To
Donations will be considered for nonprofit organizations, schools, or community groups whose missions relate to at least one of the following:
- Horticulture or gardening education
- Environmental or sustainability education
- School or community gardens
- Native plant awareness and habitat restoration
- Urban agriculture and green space initiatives
Note: Organizations must be located within our local community or surrounding areas and be able to demonstrate the educational purpose of the request.
Donation Limits
- In-kind donations (plants, soil, seeds, gift cards, etc.) are limited to a maximum value of $50 per approved request.
- Only one donation per organization per calendar year.
Monthly Capacity
- We approve a maximum of 5 donation requests per month, on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Requests must be submitted at least 7 days in advance of the intended use or event date.
How to Request a Donation
- Complete the Rainbow Gardens Donation Request Form, available at this link on our website.
- Include a brief description of your organization, how the donation will be used, and how it relates to education and gardening.
- Submit your form via email or in person.
Additional Notes
- Approval is not guaranteed and is subject to availability and budget.
- We may request photos or feedback after the event/use for promotional or educational purposes.
Guarantee/Return Policy
Any and all returns for exchanges or refunds must have a receipt. We will accept returns on all of our plants that were purchased at regular price, with a receipt, and within 3 days of purchase, to the same location purchase was made at.
Items must be returned to the same location they were purchased at.
For Returns:
- With your original receipt and remainder of the plant, we can replace the plant with an item of equal value when available. If the plant is not in stock we will issue store credit.
- Store credit will be issued for items returned to the locations they were originally purchased from. We can not give cash back, only store credit.
- All returns are subject to manager/owner approval.
For Guarantees:
- Our 6-month guarantee applies to Trees & Shrubs ONLY.
- This guarantee applies only to items purchased at regular price. Discounted items do not have a guarantee.
- Our 6-month guarantee does NOT apply to Bedding plants, Perennials, Tropical Fruits, Tropical Shrubs, Citrus, Avocado, Houseplants, Vegetables, or Herbs.
Once a customer has purchased a plant, it is up to the customer to water correctly and protect the plants from acts of nature we cannot control.
Weekly Ad
Our Weekly Ad is posted by open of business Friday mornings. Sale prices are valid Friday – Monday unless otherwise stated. All Weekly Ad items are valdi while supplies last.

Bonus Bucks
How do I use my bonus bucks?
- Bonus Bucks are given out during our spring season up to June 30th.
- $1 in Bonus Bucks is awarded per every $10 purchase. (Purchase must amount to no less than $10 for the award).
- Bonus Bucks are then redeemed during August 1st-31st of that current year.
- The maximum amount of Bonus Bucks that can be used on an item can be no greater than 50%, half of the total purchase price not including the tax.
- One dollar of Bonus Bucks is equivalent to $1.00 toward the purchase of merchandise, for up to one half (50%) of the total purchase price before sales tax. EX: $12.49 item (price before sales tax). You pay 6 Bonus Bucks coupons + $6.49 cash + sales tax.
- Bonus Bucks cannot be used on already discounted or sale items.
- Bonus Bucks cannot be used on gift certificate purchases.
- Bonus Bucks cannot be used in conjunction with SAWS coupons.
- Bonus Bucks are only accepted August 1 – August 31st of the current year. No Bonus Bucks from past years may be redeemed.

City Programs
City of San Antonio Waste Management Programs
If you find yourself needing the San Antonio Solid Waste Management brush service outside of the times of their free brush pick up, you can just pay a service fee of only 25 cents per pound and drop off your brush yourself. The price goes up a tiny bit after you’ve surpassed 20 pounds of brush, but it’s still really cheap! It’s a great option for when you just need to fill in some walkways, or maybe to fill in a playground. Remember to bring your most recent CPS energy bill and a photo ID to take advantage of these services.
Not only does the city offer brush collection and free landfill days, but San Antonio Solid Waste Management also offers mulch pick up at their recycling centers for a minimal fee. You can load up a pickup truck full finely ground mulch for only 3 cents per pound up to 20 pounds. Or….if you are just looking for some coarsely ground mulch, it is offered for free, year round! Christmas tree mulch is offered for free for a limited time after January 1st. What a deal! Just remember to bring a tarp with you to cover your mulch so you don’t get fined according to the Tarp Law-City Ordinance #72272.

CPS Energy Tree Rebates for San Antonio
Overview
CPS Energy and the City of San Antonio have partnered to offer rebates for CPS Energy account holders to purchase and plant shade trees to help reduce energy costs. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, carefully positioned trees planted near air-conditioned structures can save up to 25% of the energy a typical household uses. In addition to shading your home, trees help the soil absorb and retain rainwater, which can lower the ambient temperature outside. An evergreen tree placed on the north side of your home can also serve as a wind block during the winter. Not only do trees help you save energy, but they also increase property value and are crucial to a healthy environment. Trees clean the air, support biodiversity, and even have positive effects on mental health. There are over 30 diverse species of native and locally adapted, non-invasive exotic trees that qualify for the program. They range from small/medium to large mature heights to a prove a variety of options for you to work with to find the trees best suited for your space.
What is the rebate?
Rebates of $50 for each eligible tree are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until program funds are exhausted. This will be delivered to you via a credit on your CPS Energy Bill. There is a lifetime limit of five tree rebates per address.
How do I qualify?
- Trees must be sold in a three-gallon container or larger, and from the Qualified Species List on the application form.
- Do not exceed the lifetime limit of five rebates per address.
- For the 2024-2025 rebate, trees had to be purchased between 10/1/24 and 4/30/25.
How do I apply?
The application must include a photocopy of the original sales receipt for trees purchased, as well as a photocopy of a recent CPS Energy bill, and be postmarked by 5/15/25.

SAWS WaterSaving Landscape Coupon Program
SAWS and Rainbow Gardens offer you ways to easily save water and money while beautifying your landscape. Rainbow Gardens is an approved vendor for approved plants for the SAWS WaterSaver Landscape Coupon.
Ready to transform your landscape? Apply today for a SAWS coupon to help pay for replacing 200 square feet of grass with a new water-saving flower bed! Get up to $500 for four projects.
How It Works:
STEP 1: Take Photos
Take photos of the area where you plan to remove grass and irrigation to install your new WaterSaver garden bed. (Existing landscape beds are not eligible for this turf removal program.) The area should be at least 200 square feet. That’s about the size of an average parking space.
STEP 2: Apply
Apply online for the $125 Coupon between March 1 and Oct. 15 and attach the photo you took of the location of your future garden bed. If the area is approved, you will receive a confirmation email. SAWS residential customers can apply for up to four Landscape Coupons per year.
STEP 3: Prep Your Bed and Submit Photo – Remove Irrigation
Remove at least 200 square feet of grass per coupon. If you have irrigation, be sure to remove any sprinklers or drip lines within the area. No permanent irrigation is allowed in the new beds. Photograph any sprinkler heads, valves, drip lines or other irrigation components you remove to comply with the program requirements.
STEP 4: Shop and Get Gardening
Landscape coupons will be emailed to you in early September. Redeem your plant coupon at a participating vendor by Oct. 31. (Rainbow Gardens strives to have your SAWS Landscape Coupons in stock while the program is running.) Select 15 plants in any combination. Then plant them to create a contiguous 200-square-foot garden bed. After you redeem your coupon, you will receive an email with a link to submit photos for inspection. Save that email.
STEP 5: Send Final Photos
Once you’ve completed planting 15 new plants in the new landscape bed, take photos of the completed installation. Use the Post Inspection link below in order to submit a Post Inspection form and provide your photos to SAWS. Post Inspection forms and photos are due by Nov. 15.
STEP 6: Conservation Review
Photos will be reviewed against program criteria. Participants not meeting the criteria for success will be contacted via email with ideas on how to make them successful. Until then they are ineligible for additional programs.
